Happy Saturday all,
Two kids out, one playing playing on his computer and the other in the basement with his girlfriend. Must check the laundry again in 5 mins...and peek in on Colin and Kayla to make sure they're okay and safe and not doing anything I would have done downstairs...while my parents were upstairs....back in a sec.............
...laundry's good!
What's new....the big news of the week, Rachel broke her right pinky finger (but good) at Rugby practise earlier this week. Jammed it attempting to catch a rugby ball. It was dislocated and fractured just for good measure. Of course, she had a biology midterm to write the next day. She got a doctors note and her teacher rescheduled it for next week AND he's giving her an extra hour to complete. It involves lab work as well and, as you can imagine, she's a little clumsy with her fingers splinted together. What can I say....she's an academic, not a jock. Speaking of academics....Rachel continues her reign as top student in her classes. Just a little competitive that girl. :) my kid!
Adam is enjoying his computer class this term. His teacher has set up all her assignments and readings on the internet so that they can submit by email. He has so many e-pals around the world....most of them are girls :) He got a birthday card all decked out with little hearts and cute stuff from his e-pals, Shella and Mary, in California. That's my boy!
Alan and I continue to slog through homework. Really looking forward to April 8th when it's all over one way or the other. It's been very 'intense' at work lately. My project goes live in a week and we had a set back this week that just about aborted our go live. Dodged the bullet and announced a 'go' late Friday night. I've had the opportunity to check into a few SAP jobs that have been created in Victoria and I'm mightily impressed with the compensation they're offering. Our provincial gov't is putting in SAP for their Revenue and Taxation branch. My friend Hennie Maritz who was one of our consultants on our original implementation is the lead on this project. I'm planning on talking to him about it. If anything, it will give CRD a thing or two to think about. I'm a teensy bit disgruntled these days for a variety of reasons....but that's another story. Doesn't hurt to check these things out and keep up to date with what the market is offering.
Time for dinner.....which means we sit for a few minutes...run off to deliver a kid somewhere....eat some more dinner and run off to pick up another kid from somewhere else.
Salut!
PS. Mom.....I have been getting your messages that you've called. I've not been in my office much and I'm sorry to keep missing you. I hope we can connect this week! Love you :)

Hi all,
Well, yesterday we had the family gathering for Edie. It was held at Roy and Edies home and was attended by the immediate family. It has been a week since Edie passed away. Her granddaughter, Stefanie, did a wonderful powerpoint presentation with all sorts of pictures of Edie throughout her life. Roy asked the grandchildren to recite poems that he had picked out. It was a most pleasant afternoon. Today was the more formal affair at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club for all their friends and family. Stefanies powerpoint presentation was set up for all to view at their leisure. There were tables of memorabilia set up of Edies art work and photo albums for us to look through. It was very well attended. Alan read from a few passages of the log she kept of every sailing trip which the crowd enjoyed very much. I read a poem that Roy had chosen for the event. We are planning another family event where we scatter her ashes with her son and daughter who preceded her. All in all, the family is doing well.
And life goes on.....
Colin and Ellie are headed to Toronto & Detroit for a school band trip in early May. Adam and I will be going to Richmond for 3 days of Spring Break for a hockey tournament. Rachel is looking into tree planting as a summer job. Her stepfather is helping her with this so I'm not too freaked out about her getting eaten by bears. Pixel has apparently moved out permanently. We see him but he acts like he doesn't know us....traitor. Toby, our favourite cat, is fat, happy, and a home body. Alan and I are pushing through our homework. It's been a little difficult lately but we'll catch up. Still planning on running the Times Colonist 10K in late April. I plan to run with Noni and Chelsea. Alan can do his own pace as he'll be much faster than us.
It looks like Alan and I will be heading to either Toronto or Chicago in late April. Probably Toronto, which is okay as we have friends there. I'll be in a SAP course and he'll be 'window' shopping in any guitar shop he can locate.
So Dad....are you getting any of the emails I've sent? I've sent a few and received no response so I figure something is screwy with the address. Let me know, okay?
Anyways, off to feed the kids, do a little homework, read and then to bed.
Night all :)

Hello everybody,
I am taking tonight off from homework, kids, laundry and a myriad of other things that are usually floating around my peripheral vision hoping to get my attention. Oh they’re still there….I am simply ignoring them tonight. Plus I walked by the computer and a truly rare opportunity presented itself…..THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE COMPUTER!. I didn’t even hesitate and leapt into the chair and I’m not moving until I finished this blog no matter how many times a kid walks by asking if I’m done yet. NO I’M NOT BLOODY WELL DONE YET!.
So what’s new…..still working, still working out, still going to school, still hanging in there. My boss has decided that I’m going to be the Human Resources/Payroll support person. This is going to be good. I get to go on more SAP courses to wonderful places. I wonder where I’ll go this time? Maybe I’ll take my husband with me this time J
The course I’m taking now is Systems Analysis and Design. Heavy but interesting. Alan is also taking a course this term. Project Management. Another reason for the heavy use of the computer. So everybody in this house is in school. What a pack of nerds.
All the kids are doing well. Colin and Elly are gigging at a swanky hotel tonight for the Victoria Independent Film Festival. That should be a lot of fun for them. Speaking of music….Alan and I attended an incredible event last night held at the UVic concert hall. Winton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. He had bought the tickets last fall. It was sensational. Each musician a star in their own right. If you ever get the opportunity to see Winton Marsalis live….do it.
Pixel doesn’t live here anymore. We still see him from time to time on the street. We think he’s living across the street with the new people. They probably think he’s a stray. We don’t want to let them know he’s supposed to be ours because they’ll probably want cat support. We thought we’d try capturing him and put a collar on him with his name and address but so far no luck. Oh well….we still have Toby. He’s fat, happy and likes us and he thinks he’s a dog. That’s okay. We like dogs.
Noni seems to have survived turning 40. I made her a chocolate prune cake! It was actually really good. ‘Course it had half a mickey of brandy in it so that helped. David and I got her a running jacket. She was quite pleased. It turns out she and Chelsea joined a 10K running clinic for the Times Colonist 10 K in April. Alan and I are going to run it as well. I’m going to run with her. I’m really looking forward to it!
Well…tis all for now. Until next time…..love & hugs to you all.
Lyn
