Good afternoon,
Good news for the Winnipeg-situated portion of the clan.....Rachel and I are coming to Winnipeg! Not for a long time, but for a good time. November 13th, 14th and 15th. It will be a whirlwind trip to spend some time with some relatives that I've not seen in quite some time. I'm not sure yet how we are going to be "arranged" for the whole time but I do know that some of the time we'll be at my cousin Betty's to visit that side of the family. My Aunt Merle is going to be 96 in Feb and I'd better get a visit in before I regret it. Some more of the time will be spent visiting the other side of the family....yeah - that's you! My Grandma's going to get a double whammy this year what with her no sooner getting back to Winnipeg from a visit here that we're going to be there to visit her. Perhaps there's a cot or some potato sacks that the kid and I can camp out on over at my favourite Aunt and Uncles place......no, not my favourite uncle in Oklahoma....the one at 225 St. Michaels Road...Will you be around on the 14th/15th? That way, we spend Saturday day and night and Sunday morning with Merle and then Sunday afternoon, night and Monday til we fly home. If that works for you guys, let me know...K?

Other than that....life motors on. School's good. Rachel has her first set of midterms coming up but she seems to be handling it well. She's cut back on working..smart kid. I should do that.

Off to do homework....Alan's band is practising tonight....Rachel has to study and Adam...well, he'll probably play computer games but AFTER his homework is done!

bye for now

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there,

What's new? Adam has begun a new season of hockey. So far every practise he's somehow broken one thing or another. First it was the left skate blade. No problem, I thought, we'll just nip down to Sports Traders and get them to put a new one on.....ha, ha.....43 and still naive. Apparently, "steel" as Matt, my new best friend down at Sports Traders, is not so easy to come across. Many phone calls later to various other stores in the cities across North America and finally, a phone call to Easton, the manufacturers themselves, no blades. So he did the next best thing...he stole it from a pair of skates in the store :) My kind of guy! Adam's back in action a week later. First practise back on the ice...out limps my son....broke the other blade. Dear God in heaven, I hope Matt can scavenge the other blade from the set he scavenged from last week! So, off I trot to drop off the other skate. Matt wasn't there but he called me later...he recognised the skate. Smart guy saved the other blade.... So a few days later, Adam's back in action. This time he gets chucked off the ice by the ref 'cause he's !*&^$#*(#@ blade on his ridiculously expensive hockey stick is chipped and needs to be replaced. Boy needs a job! Enough....blood pressure critical.

My step-daughter, Elly, and my step-son, Colin, made the R & B band at high school. Papa is very proud. Elly will be singing and Colin will be playing the trombone. I'll have to remember to bring the kleenex to the next gig they have 'cause Alan will not be able to contain himself with both those kids up on stage.
Will be much fun this year. The teacher, Eric Emde, is a wonder. They are scheduled to travel around the province, Toronto and Montreux, Switzerland. Pretty cool, eh!

Rachel has begun her first year in College. She's taking 1st year Calculus, English and Physics. Geez, I wonder who she takes after.....DAD! She's still working part time at McDonalds. Josh is the man in her life...and I predict for some time to come. He's a great kid and very obviously cares for her. Her latest madness is...get this....she's playing rugby! 5 foot 5....120lbs in a mouth guard. Good thing she's still covered by my medical plan.

Alan and I are the same as ever....just trying to keep up with those kids!

Oh yeah!.....the Wharf Street Blues Band decided to create their own venue so we rented a hall and we're throwing a Halloween dance. Selling tickets, and liquor license and everything. Gonna be a really good party.

Well, off to bed. ttfn Lyn
